Donna's Art is a throwback to her past. Art was her passion when she was young, but as life goes, there were businesses to be run, bills to be paid and children to be raised. In the last few years art became her therapy and escape from the world. Dichro Glass Jewelry became her favorite. So many people started requesting her jewelry that it became an unexpected business. The sparkle in customers eyes when they fall in love with a piece brings Donna great joy. And so it went that Donna's passion spread joy to others...It doesn't get much better than that.
What is Dichro Glass
Dichroic Glass or "Dichro" is a special type of glass that has been treated with various metal oxides such as gold or silver to create multi faceted color crystals and reflections. The expensive process creates a coating similar to a gemstone. Each piece of glass is unique in color and structure. By combining various pieces and colors and then firing them in a kiln, Donna creates beautiful pieces of individual art. Just like snowflakes, no two pieces are alike.
High Quality Individually Hand Made
Don't be fooled by imported machine made glass. Most of the glass jewelry you see is not true Dichro Glass. It is machine made in one solid piece and is not of the same quality. You will notice it is one solid glob of glass or plastic. Look closely and you will notice Donna's creations are individual pieces of Dichro glass, some very tiny. In order to create this beautiful and unique art, each piece is painstakingly hand made with tiny shards of glass and then carefully fired in a kiln. These fine pieces of jewelry will last a lifetime and can be passed down for generations.
